Be Present Workshops
Be Present Workshops CIC was founded in June 2017. We deliver workshops and 1:1 sessions with a variety of groups in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
We use creative and holistic methods to bring about community well being and create new friendships in residential and public environments.
We have worked with elderly and elderly with dementia in residential settings using music and movement to stimulate senses and encourage light exercise and bonding, For example one of our projects named Join Hands in Leeds which was supported by Leeds Community Foundations grant – Give Love Leeds programme.
We have provided music workshops for those living in Mental Health facilities in the north of England appealing to the residents group Such as accessible karaoke style sessions and soothing sound baths.
More recently, supported by the National Lottery Awards for All , we are providing one to one holistic therapies to those leaving domestic abuse or seeking support while experiencing domestic abuse.
We’ve had referrals from Women’s Aid, the Equality Practice and Navigo in the Grimsby area. Working alongside these organisations has allowed us to set up group workshops in already safe environments to introduce some well being options including taster treatments and soothing relaxations and take home info for self treatments as gentle movement into attending the treatment room for a one to one full length reflexology.
We are planning to launch Zoom wellbeing sessions followed by face to face meetings of similar beneficiaries who take part in these online groups. We will be expanding our holistic – well being outreach to those who are being supported solely online. Some of these groups we are linking with have been aware of us for a few years through one off workshops.
Our hope is to add another layer to an already beneficial foundation of connection. We hope that we will reach both women and men within these groups in our next venture
